The Boston Beaneaters was a baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts in 1897. Pee Wee McFly played for the team and was coerced by Diamond Jim Tannen to throw the game.
Behind the scenes
- The Boston Beaneaters were indeed Boston's National League baseball team in 1897, and did win the league pennant after a late season set of games put them two games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles [1]. The Beaneaters were renamed the Boston Braves in 1912, and, after being relocated two times, are now the Atlanta Braves. Real-life team manager Frank Selee was also portrayed in the animated series.
- "Pee Wee" was the well-known nickname for baseball Hall of Famer Harold "Pee Wee" Reese, who played for the Dodgers between 1940 and 1958.
